Spider Veins

Spider veins give the appearance that dark veins have been pushed to the surface of the skin.
They are genetic or sun-related on the face, and usually hormone-related on women's legs.

What Are Spider Veins?
The medical term for spider veins is telangiectasias.
They are simply small dilated veins very close to the skin surface.

What Causes Spider Veins?
In women, they are usually related to hormones (your own hormones or oral contraceptives), but can be a sign of underlying varicose veins. In men, they are almost always related to underlying varicose veins.

Who Gets Spider Veins?
Spider veins are a more common problem for women because of hormones, oral contraceptives, and pregnancy related hormonal changes.

People who spend a lot of time outdoors tend to be vulnerable to spider veins. This is because their faces are exposed to wind and sun damage, which can be major factors.

The spider veins of Rosacea are genetically acquired.

Second Chance Facial Rejuvenation®

The full SCFR protocol has been successful in reducing facial spider veins. The addition of regular application of a variety of therapeutic grade essential oils (Young Living brand) speeds up the process.  Cypress, Helichrysum, Lavender and the Aroma Life blend are recommended.

Sclerotherapy
This tried and tested procedure has been popular since the 1920s. It uses the injection of various fluids directly into problem veins. This produces injury to the vein with resultant closure.

It is most commonly used on veins in the legs.

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light
Light-based treatments are the best solution for facial spider veins, including Rosacea. One to three sessions are needed to clear up most of the tiny veins.

Laser doesn't work well on legs. It costs more, hurts, more and is less effective. Leg spider veins respond much better to sclerotherapy.
